About the Ashinaga Africa Initiative
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative aims to nurture the next generation of African leaders by providing them with access to quality education and mentorship. Selected scholars, who have lost one or both parents, receive academic training and guidance to help them excel academically and become catalysts for positive change in their communities and beyond.
Internship Details
Dates and Location
- Study Camp 1 (In Person): July 1st – October 18th, 2024
- Study Camp 2 (Remote): October 14th – December 13th, 2024
- Location: Kampala, Uganda
Responsibilities
As an intern, you will play a vital role in supporting the students during their academic journey. Your responsibilities include:
- Teaching and Mentoring: Engage with students in subjects like IELTS and SAT exam preparation, essay writing, mathematics, and more.
- Program Development: Collaborate with fellow interns and supervisors to design an academic program tailored to students’ needs.
- University Guidance: Assist students in exploring their options for universities abroad and guide them through the application process.
- Extra-curricular Activities: Create enriching activities to foster student bonding and develop leadership skills.
- Support Rainbow House: Provide academic support to primary school students at Rainbow House.
Requirements and Benefits
To qualify for this internship, you must:
- Be enrolled in or have recently completed a university degree.
- Demonstrate a student-focused approach and adaptability in teaching.
- Possess fluency or native-level proficiency in English.
- Have full vaccination status against COVID-19.
In return, you’ll receive:
- Round trip flights to Uganda, accommodation, travel insurance, and more covered by Ashinaga.
- A monthly stipend of 650,000UGX.
