Not-for-profit charities AusHealth and Curecell are committed to translating cutting-edge research into real-world, commercial outcomes. The awards – intended to help with living costs – will be made to students currently enrolled in a PhD, whose research projects have real potential for clinical impact.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.
Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years. AusHealth Curecell Awards

Aim and Benefits of AusHealth Curecell Awards

The winners will receive:

  • Notification of their successful application! (A public announcement will follow and winners may be asked to help with some promotion.)
  • Prize payment – up to $10,000, paid through the enrolling university.

Requirements for AusHealth Curecell Awards Qualification

The 2024 AusHealth Curecell awards are now open to PhD students doing a cell or biological therapy related project.

Interview date, Process and Venue for AusHealth Curecell Awards

The winner(s) of the 2024 AusHealth Curecell awards will be decided by the Curecell Board of Directors, using the following judging criteria:

  • Innovation – The extent to which the therapy is new or original
  • Clinical Relevance – The potential applicability of the therapy to real-world clinical settings
  • Feasibility – The practicality of the therapy in terms of production, scalability and accessibility to patients
  • Communication – Clarity, organisation and professionalism in the application and/or pitch (if needed).

Application Deadline

July 31, 2024

How to Apply

Applications need to be received by 31 July 2024.

Winners will be announced before 30 September 2024.

  • Applicants should send AusHealth a one-page brief (in pdf format) outlining their PhD project, considering the judging criteria (below).
  • In the event of shortlisting, AusHealth might ask finalists to give a five-minute pitch presentation.
  • Briefs should be sent to [email protected].
