Calling all ambitious undergraduates with a passion for space and science! The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) Summer Internship Program offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive into cutting-edge planetary research, gain invaluable experience, and forge a path in this thrilling field.

Program Overview

If you’re an undergraduate with at least 50 semester hours of credit in a science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics major, you’re eligible to apply for this exceptional internship. Immerse yourself in a 10-week program under the mentorship of renowned scientists at the LPI or the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. From June 5th to August 11th, 2023, you’ll embark on your own personalized research project focused on lunar and planetary sciences.

Eligibility

While students with majors in the physical and natural sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics are preferred, all eligible students are welcome and encouraged to apply. The LPI prioritizes diversity and evaluates candidates based on:

How to apply

To apply for the LPI Summer Internship Program 2023, interested candidates must complete the online application form. Paper applications are not accepted. Alongside the application form, applicants must submit at least two reference letters and official transcripts by December 12, 2022.

Note for Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals applying for the program must provide proof of English proficiency through accepted methods such as TOEFL or IELTS scores or a letter from an English department professor confirming language skills.
