JOINT JAPAN/WORLD BANK GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2024 FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES (FULLY FUNDED)
Applications are now open for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program. The JJ/WBGSP is open to citizens of certain developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master’s degree program in a development-related topic.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a national of a World Bank member developing country
- Should not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
- Must be in good health
- Should hold a bachelor’s degree earned at least 3 years prior to the Application Deadline date
- Must be employed in development-related work in a paid full-time position at the time of submitting the scholarship application
- Should have at least 3 years of paid development-related employment since earning a bachelor’s degree
Benefits:
- Economy class air travel between home country and host university at the start and end of the study program, with a travel allowance of US $600 for each trip
- Tuition for the graduate program and basic medical insurance obtained through the university
- Monthly subsistence allowance to cover living expenses during the scholarship period
- Scholarship duration covers the graduate program or two years, whichever is less
Exclusions (Not Covered by Scholarship):
- Visa application costs
- Expenses for scholar’s family members
- Extra-curricular courses or training
- Courses not meeting the minimum credits required for the degree
- Language training not provided by the graduate program
- Additional travel during the study program
- Expenses related to research, supplementary educational materials, field trips, workshops/seminars, or internships
- Educational equipment such as computers
- Resident permit fee
Application Requirements:
- Submit one online application through the JJ/WBGSP application portal by the application deadline
- Include two professional recommendation letters submitted online
- Complete the application form in English or the language of the master’s degree program
