YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program – Cohort 48 (Onsite) in Accra, Ghana (Fully Funded)

Are you a young West African leader looking to make a difference in your community? Applications are now open for the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program – Cohort 48 (onsite). The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), initiated by the United States Government, aims to empower the next generation of African leaders who will drive change in business, entrepreneurship, civil society, and public sector management across the continent.

Eligibility Criteria

Basic Requirements:

  • Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 to 35 years old at the time of application submission.
  • Nationality: Citizens and residents of West African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Burkina Faso are eligible to apply.
  • Residency: Applicants must be residents of one of the aforementioned countries.
  • U.S. Citizenship: Applicants must not hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Visa Eligibility: Candidates must be eligible to obtain a visa to Ghana.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English language (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) is mandatory.

Program Details

Tracks Offered:

  1. Business and Entrepreneurship: Geared towards emerging entrepreneurs aiming for leadership roles in the private sector or aspiring to establish their own businesses.
  2. Civil Society Management: Targeted at individuals engaged or aspiring to engage in public service through non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, or volunteerism.
  3. Public Policy and Management: Tailored for those interested in governmental roles, regional organizations, international organizations, or think tanks.

Selection Criteria

Evaluation Parameters:

  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership in public service, business, or civic engagement.
  • Community Engagement: Active involvement in public or community service, volunteerism, or mentorship.
  • Collaborative Skills: Ability to work effectively in diverse groups and respect differing opinions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong social and communication abilities are essential.
  • Positive Attitude: An energetic and positive demeanor is valued.
  • Relevant Experience: A demonstrated understanding and experience in the chosen sector/track.
