Empowering Ethiopian Voices Against Misinformation

Applications are now open for the 2024 Africa Fact-Checking Fellowship. Aimed specifically at Ethiopian content creators, the Africa Fact-checking Fellowship – Ethiopia (AFF-ETH) seeks to build a strong network of citizen fact-checkers committed to combatting misinformation in Ethiopia.

Developing Digital Resilience

The fellowship focuses on equipping participants with the tools to recognize and combat false information effectively. By nurturing a community of knowledgeable content producers, the fellowship aims to empower individuals to disseminate accurate information, thus mitigating the harmful effects of misinformation.

Building a Network of Advocates

Upon completion of the fellowship, alumni will become ambassadors for truth, sharing their expertise with colleagues and peers. This ripple effect will contribute to a culture where people are more inclined to seek and share verifiable information, thereby enhancing the integrity of online content.

Addressing Hate Speech and Promoting Peace

In addition to combating misinformation, the fellowship addresses the pressing issue of hate speech in Ethiopia. Participants will gain insights into identifying and mitigating hate speech, fostering a more inclusive and peaceful online environment.

Hybrid Learning Approach

The fellowship adopts a hybrid approach, blending online and in-person sessions to maximize learning outcomes. Participants will benefit from weekly virtual sessions supplemented by in-person workshops, creating a dynamic learning experience.
